Ontimeo ("we", "us", "our") provides an AI-powered quiz generation and study platform for teachers and students, along with a digital book store. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By creating an account or using Ontimeo, you agree to the practices described here.

• Account information: name, email address, password (stored as a salted hash, never in plain text), and role (teacher, student, or administrator).
• Content you provide: quiz titles, subjects, pasted text, and uploaded files (PDF, text, or image) used to generate quizzes, and any digital books uploaded by administrators.
• Usage data: quizzes created, quiz attempts and scores, classes, and study/review activity, used to power your dashboard, performance reports, and progress tracking.
• Payment data: subscription and book purchase records (plan, amount, currency, status, and coupon usage). Card and payment details themselves are handled entirely by our payment processor, Paddle — we never see or store your card number.
• Technical data: IP address, browser type, and basic device information, collected automatically for security and to keep the service running reliably.

• To create and maintain your account, and to authenticate you when you sign in.
• To generate quizzes from the material you provide, using the AI processing described below.
• To process subscription and book purchases, apply coupons, and send purchase/subscription confirmation emails.
• To show you your own quizzes, attempts, classes, performance history, and purchased books.
• To send account-related emails: email verification codes, password reset codes, and purchase/subscription confirmations. We do not send marketing email without your consent.
• To detect abuse, enforce our Terms of Service, and keep the platform secure.

When you generate a quiz, the text you paste or the text extracted from your uploaded file is sent to a third-party AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic, depending on server configuration) solely to generate quiz questions, options, and explanations. Uploaded PDFs and images may also be processed with on-server text extraction (including OCR for scanned documents) before generation. We do not use your content to train our own models, and we do not sell your content to third parties.

Subscription and digital book payments are processed by Paddle, our payment processor and merchant of record. When you check out, payment is handled entirely within Paddle's secure checkout. Ontimeo stores only the resulting transaction status, amount, and currency — never your full card details.

Ontimeo uses browser local storage (not third-party tracking cookies) to keep you signed in between visits and to remember your language preference. This is strictly necessary for the service to function and is not used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

We retain your account and content for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your account and associated data deleted, contact us using the details below and we will process the request, subject to any records we're required to keep for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes (such as payment history).

We share data only with the service providers necessary to run Ontimeo:

• Our AI provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) — to generate quiz content from material you submit.
• Paddle — to process payments.
• Our email delivery provider — to send verification codes and account notifications.

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data. You can update your name from your account settings at any time, or contact us to exercise any other rights.

Ontimeo is used in educational settings and may be used by students under the guidance of a teacher or parent/guardian. We collect only the information necessary to provide the quiz and study features described above, and we do not knowingly use children's data for advertising.

Passwords are stored using industry-standard salted hashing. Access to paid digital books is verified on our servers on every request — purchased files are never made publicly accessible. We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all traffic to and from Ontimeo.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of Ontimeo after a change means you accept the revised policy.
